“Gaslighting” was THE word of the year for 2022 and continued to be THE action/activity of 2023.
“GASLIGHTING” in 2023 … what WASN’T gaslighting?
I’m a public relations, marketing, gaslighting, narcissist expert. In 2019, I learned the hard way what gaslighting was. All because of some unfortunate interactions (to put it lightly) with covert malignant narcissists. All because I was loyal to a fault, naively trusted nefarious people and found myself being gaslit by narcissists, abusers, con artists, perjurers, extortionists, squatters, stalkers and possible murderers.
It was then that I created my Gaslight Harmonies program to help victims of narcissist abuse reignite their flame by EXTINGUISHING the GASLIGHT and the GASLIGHTER.
WHAT IS GASLIGHTING? It is psychological manipulation of a person that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem in the victim. It’s basically “crazy making” by a “crazy maker” aka a NARCISSIST-a pathological liar.
The origin of the term is derived from the 1944 film “Gaslight” set among London’s elite. It portrays a seemingly genteel husband using lies and manipulation (turning a gaslight on and off to make her think she is crazy) to isolate his heiress wife and persuade her that she is mentally unwell so that he can steal from her.
Gaslighting is whatever the narcissist is accusing the victim of is what THEY are actually doing. …. cheating, lying, stealing. And in my real life case, car keying, stalking and delivering suspicious packages. These are actual ludicrous accusations that my gaslighting/defamer/stalker/narc has accused me and many others of and actually called the police for. More on their soon to be arrest coming.
So catching a gaslighting narcissist is easy. Whatever they say YOU are doing-THEY are actually doing. Call them out on it and watch how they unravel under the lies. Their Pinocchio sized lies get so gargantuan and outlandish, their own “flying monkeys” (watch the Wizard of Oz) fly away from the absurdity that their narc is purporting.
