NOBODY came to get you when I grew up. I was a latchkey kid – raised by a single mom who struggled to support us. Are you even allowed to use that term anymore?
If somebody (mom or dad, babysitter, older sibling charged with babysitting) “came” to get you, you were in more trouble.
There needs to be more of this

Helicopter parents are not helping their kids. They need to learn to fall down and get up on their own.
Nobody’s coming to get or help you in this life.
